IIT UCEED (UNDERGRADUATE COMMON ENTRANCE EXAM FOR DESIGN) since 2015

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is an entrance examination conducted by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

It is a joint entrance examination for admission into Bachelor of Design programs in IIT-Bombay, IIT-Guwahati, IIT-Hyderabad and IITDM-Jabalpur.

CEED exam is after graduation, its pattern is same as UCEED.     Online Classes

Eligibility

Age criteria

The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 1995 if belonging to the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL category and on or after October 1, 1990, if belonging to the SC, ST, or PwD category

Number of attempts for IIT UCEED exam:
A candidate can attempt UCEED for a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years. The marks for 2020 will be valid only for admissions of 2020.

Qualifying Exam:

  • The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2019, OR appearing in 2020.
  • Students from ALL STREAMS (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible.
  • Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination in 2018 or earlier are NOT eligible.

NAT (Numerical Answer Type) 18 Qs (4 marks each = 72; no negative marks). No Choices.
MSQ (Multiple Select Ques.) 18 Q (4 marks each = 72; 0.19 negative marks = -3.42 for all wrong), one or more out of 4 choices
MCQ (Multiple Choice Ques.) 32 Qs (3 marks each = 96; 0.71 negative marks = -30.72 for all wrong), 1 out of 4 choices
Part B Drawing skill, Subject on computer, draw on paper, part B starts only after 2 hour 30 minutes of part A.

  1. All these years  UCEED checked the mental ability of student towards problem solving.
  2. But from 2020 drawing was introduced in UCEED, the purpose of introducing drawing indicates maturing of  program, besides mental ability, visualization is needed for product designers.
  3. Drawing has been introduced to provide this element as it is thinking and drawing.
  4. In part B (drawing question) has to be attempted by candidates in the answer sheet provided to them at their test centre.
  5. The questions are displayed on computer screen.

Part A

  • Spatial Reasoning: Transformation of 2D / 3D Objects
  • Observational questions: Find out difference for given criteria
  • General and Cultural Awareness
  • Analytical and logical reasoning: Hidden objects, relationships, logic
  • Reading Comprehension and Passages
  • Problem Solving

Part B

  • Ability to draw products, people or scenes in proportion with good line quality,
  • composition, design, proportion, perspective and shading.
  • Drawing skills in UCEED exams are elementary and are basically used to test a person’s visualization skills rather than drawing.

 

UCEED Cut off Marks:

We see there is a section wise cut-off also, hence scoring in each section is needed.
